RoboTruck

Overview
RoboTruck——Descartes is a electric tractor developed from scratch to meet the requirements of unmanned driving scenarios on open roads. The vehicle adopts a full-by-wire chassis architecture, deeply integrating core systems such as EHPS (Electric Hydraulic Power Steering), EBS (Electronic Braking System), EPB (Electronic Parking Brake), and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) to achieve precise multi-degree-of-freedom control over steering, braking, and driving.

Key Product Features/Technologies
The Chassis Domain Controller features high real-time performance and high safety redundancy capabilities. It can precisely execute intelligent driving commands, comprehensively monitor vehicle status in real-time, and achieve coordinated optimization of vehicle motion control and efficient energy management.

It integrates steering, braking, and drive control to achieve coordinated control of multiple vehicle degrees of freedom; and realizes integrated optimization of drive, braking, and thermal management for synergistic energy management.

Key Features / Technologies of the Intelligent Driving System

  • The intelligent driving sensor suite features a triple-redundant perception system—LiDAR + 4D millimeter-wave radar + high-definition vision—covering full-scenario sensing for the front, sides, and rear; key areas are covered by the fields of view of at least two sensors, ensuring safe operation under heavy loads and complex road conditions.
  • All core perception sensors are self-developed, enabling rapid upgrades and efficient repair and replacement.
  • AI foundation-model-based perception and planning/control algorithms are used to deliver high-precision perception outputs and end-to-end vehicle control, with continuous iteration driven by a closed-loop data pipeline.
  • A combination of AI data-driven methods and classical vehicle dynamics enables real-time state estimation of vehicle speed, payload, road grade, trailer articulation angle, and more.
  • The system supports heavy-truck-grade planning and control capabilities such as traffic-light stop-and-go at complex intersections / mixed-traffic navigation, overtaking, lane changes, U-turns, and pull-over parking, meeting autonomous driving requirements for closed environments (e.g., ports and mines) as well as public-road transfer/haulage operations.
