Recently, the results of the 2024 China Ports Association Science and Technology Awards were announced, with HIRAIN winning the First Prize of the China Ports Association Science and Technology Progress Award. This marks another significant achievement in port technology, following the Second Prize in 2020 and the First Prize in 2022. The project site implementation, Longgong Port, became the first inland port in northern Jiangsu to receive this prestigious award, signifying a major advancement in intelligent inland port construction and setting an industry benchmark.
As an important industry award endorsed by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Science and Technology Awards Office, the "China Ports Association Science and Technology Award" aims to drive technological innovation and high-quality development in the port sector. HIRAIN's involvement in the "Research and Application of Integrated Technology for Intelligent Inland Container Ports" project represents a significant breakthrough in the intelligent upgrade of inland ports.
Longgong Port pioneered the systematic integration of "advanced seaport concepts" into inland port construction. By deploying automated quay cranes, fully automated yard cranes, and HIRAIN's autonomous driving horizontal transportation system, and leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as industrial 5G private networks, artificial intelligence, and digital twin, the port overcame critical challenges in automated port technology, offering an innovative model for the automation of inland ports and the domestic substitution of seaport equipment.
The 3rd Generation HAV of HIRAIN
Project Highlights
First large-scale application of HAV in inland ports: HIRAIN's HAV vehicles were deployed at the terminal, achieving autonomous navigation, intelligent obstacle avoidance, and centimeter-level positioning through multi-sensor fusion perception, field-end informatization, and high-precision mapping systems, enabling all-weather routine operations.
Project Application Outcomes
After full implementation at Longgong Port, the average operational efficiency reached 26.6 natural containers per hour, with a 20% reduction in energy consumption, 60% savings in labor, and nearly 200 million saved yuan in logistics costs for surrounding enterprises. This initiative has promoted the shift from road to water transportation and the conversion of bulk cargo to containerized transportation, ushering in a new model of green, low-carbon, and efficient container transportation for inland ports and providing a reference for intelligent and lean port construction.
Currently, 16 HIRAIN's autonomous driving flatbed vehicles (HAV) operate within the port, precisely executing tasks between the port and railway stations via an intelligent scheduling platform, achieving fully automated container loading and transfer processes. Additionally, AI large-model technology has been deeply integrated into train marshaling operations, optimizing container loading plans through mathematical modeling and significantly improving the efficiency of rail-water transfer connections.
Looking ahead, HIRAIN will continue to adhere to the philosophy of "Value Innovation, Serving Customers," focusing on intelligent vehicle and fleet operation management solutions. With self-reliant and controllable core technologies, HIRAIN will drive the intelligent upgrade of ports and collaborate with customers to build smart and green ports!
