Hirain Obtains China's First ISO/PAS 8800 Automotive AI Safety Process Certificate for Tier 1 Enterprises

Recently, Beijing Hirain Technologies Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Hirain") has passed the ISO/PAS 8800:2024 Road Vehicle AI Safety Process Certification conducted by SGS, an internationally recognized testing, inspection and certification organization. It has thus become the first Tier 1 enterprise in China to obtain this certification.
On October 24, 2025, a certificate-awarding ceremony was held at the Hirain Automotive Electronics Technology Forum, where more than 600 industry guests from domestic and foreign OEMs and other enterprises witnessed this moment together.

ISO/PAS 8800 is the world's first authoritative standard for artificial intelligence safety in the road vehicle field, released by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in December 2024. It aims to address the risks of unexpected vehicle-level safety-related behaviors caused by insufficient output, systematic errors and random hardware failures of in-vehicle artificial intelligence elements, and to ensure the safe operation of AI technology in complex tasks and scenarios.
Obtaining the certification from SGS, an internationally authoritative organization, indicates that Hirain has established a product development system that meets the world's highest AI safety standards for road vehicles. Combined with Hirain's already certified ISO 26262, ISO 21448 and ISO 21434 systems, this system covers four major safety fields: functional safety, expected functional safety, cybersecurity and AI safety. It will provide comprehensive and solid safety guarantees for Hirain's products such as autonomous driving, intelligent cockpits and intelligent chassis.
At the certificate-awarding ceremony, Mr. Lü Bincai, Director of SGS Automotive Services Department, stated:
AI technology has greatly improved the comprehensive performance of intelligent driving vehicles in environmental perception, intelligent decision-making and dynamic control. However, at the same time, the inherent complexity and uncertainty of AI systems have also introduced many safety risks. Therefore, how to ensure the safe and reliable application of artificial intelligence in the field of intelligent driving has become a strategic focus for automobile manufacturers and industrial suppliers. SGS attached great importance to this cooperation project and specially invited two experts from the international expert team who participated in the drafting and formulation of the standard to serve as auditors. They worked in-depth with Hirain's functional safety team and intelligent driving team to ensure that the project reached a mature level upon its first implementation and laid a solid foundation for the smooth implementation of subsequent product projects.

Hirain attaches great importance to the application and safety of AI technology. Since the release of the initial version of the ISO 8800 standard, it has organized internal and external experts to interpret the standard and explore its implementation, and began to build an AI development process system based on the standard. After the release of the ISO/PAS 8800 standard in December 2024, Hirain officially launched the process certification work. During the project, Hirain collaborated in-depth with SGS to comprehensively identify the gaps between Hirain's existing safety process system, AI R&D system and the standard requirements. Together, they improved the multi-dimensional detailed processes covering AI safety management, AI system safety development, verification and validation, safety analysis, data security lifecycle and operational safety assurance. After a comprehensive document review and interview Q&A, it was finally confirmed that the process system built by Hirain fully complies with the requirements of the ISO/PAS 8800 standard.

"Product categories are numerous, but safety comes first."
