HIRAIN helps SERES win the ISO 26262 Functional Safety ASIL C Product Certification

On October 23rd, the SE210 main drive motor controller MCU (Motor Control Unit) functional safety development project, a collaboration between HIRAIN and SERES Phoenix Smart Innovation, was successfully completed, obtaining the ISO 26262: 2018 ASIL C functional safety product certification. This certification marks a significant milestone for SERES in the field of automotive electronics, signifying progress in safety and reliability, and providing robust support for the market to realize higher-level intelligent driving functions, accelerate the safe introduction of products, and scale up mass production.
ISO 26262, as an internationally authoritative standard for automotive functional safety, covers the entire product lifecycle, including functional safety management, concept phase, system phase, hardware development, software development, production operation, support processes, and safety analysis.
In this collaboration, SERES Phoenix Smart Innovation served as the main executor, with the functional safety team of HIRAIN providing technical consulting and engineering services. The scope of implementation included safety management, system development and testing, hardware development and testing, software development and testing, support processes, and safety analysis. Throughout the project timeline, HIRAIN and SERES engaged in deep cooperation, thoroughly implementing the management and technical requirements of ISO 26262:2018 into the product development of the SE210 motor controller, ensuring the safety and reliability of the motor controller product. Facing the challenge of a tight schedule and heavy tasks, the excellent product development capabilities of SERES combined with the outstanding functional safety engineering services of HIRAIN achieved a synergistic effect greater than the sum of its parts. The project successfully passed the ISO 26262 ASIL C product certification in just 9 months, a pace that exceeds the one to one and a half years typically required in the industry, significantly accelerating the project timeline.
The functional safety team of HIRAIN, established in 2008, is one of the earlier teams in China engaged in the study of functional safety technology. As a member of the national standard committee for functional safety, HIRAIN participates in the formulation of national standards for functional safety and expected functional safety; as a core member of the chip innovation alliance, it participates in the formulation of functional safety standards for automotive-grade autonomous chips. Currently, there are more than 80 full-time functional safety technicians, and the core project implementation team has over 8 years of experience, providing full-stack functional safety engineering services for intelligent connected vehicle products from safety concept development to product design and official production.
To date, the functional safety team of HIRAIN has provided functional safety services to more than 150 domestic and international vehicle and parts manufacturers, implementing over 50 cases of SOTIF, functional safety processes, and product certifications, with a 100% first-pass certification rate. With a wealth of successful case accumulation, HIRAIN has established a comprehensive functional safety process and product platform, covering products in the intelligent driving domain, power domain, chassis domain, and body domain. Additionally, it can provide customized development of safety components to enhance customers' product functional safety development efficiency. HIRAIN functional safety platform can help customers reduce the construction and development cycle of functional safety processes and products by 30%-50%, which has been practiced in multiple domain control product development projects and has received high recognition from customers.
