HIRAIN R-EPS to assist L4 automatic driving landing

With the gradual maturity of L4 autonomous driving technology and the acceleration of commercialization, the industry's requirements for vehicle safety have reached a new height. In order to ensure the safe operation of autonomous vehicles in all-weather and all-road conditions, the development and application of redundant systems has become the key. In this context, we have developed R-EPS (Rack-Electronic Power Steering) products with full redundancy. The product will be adapted to Robovan, the L4 level autonomous driving model cooperated by Wenyuan Zhixing and Jiangling, in 2023, and has completed hundreds of thousands of kilometers of actual road verification. In addition, in a passenger model that will be released in October this year to support L4 automatic driving, HIRAIN fully redundant R-EPS products are also equipped. With the landing of a number of L4 level projects, the influence of HIRAIN fully redundant R-EPS products in the industry has gradually increased.

 

 

Full redundancy R-EPS products, hardware and software redundancy design, key signals through private CAN communication sharing between ECUs, fault tolerant operation ability in the case of abnormal faults, with high reliability, high stability, high safety and high steering performance, to meet the steering needs of L2-L4 automatic driving models. After more than two years of dedicated development, a number of breakthroughs have been made in the corner response of L4 automatic driving.

 

 

Both sets of controllers of our fully redundant R-EPS products have independent and autonomous Angle control capabilities. When one controller fails, the other fault-free controller can continue to work as the primary controller. The fault-free controller can output 50% of the maximum steering capacity, cover 90% of the steering Angle when the vehicle is fully loaded, and respond to corner requests at a corner speed of ≥400°/s, providing high safety and performance for L4 automatic driving. According to the actual vehicle test results, the R-EPS Angle command execution time, steady-state time, overshoot, steady-state error and other dynamic and steady-state Angle control performance is excellent in the speed range of 0~100Km/h.

 

 

HIRAIN has been engaged in chassis product development business since 2006, after nearly 20 years of technology accumulation and innovation, chassis products cover steering power system control, linear chassis products, four-wheel steering and suspension control products. Among them, the steering power products are rich, and the types of steering systems supported include tubular C-EPS, rate-type R-EPS, and double-pinion DP-EPS, covering 12V, 24V, 48V systems, including non-redundant and fully redundant solutions. At present, fully redundant R-EPS can meet the requirements of L2-L4 level automatic driving, and has been equipped with a number of mid-high-end models to achieve supporting mass production.
