"The wave of 'chips' surges, and domestic products must stand firm." As the automotive industry accelerates its march toward intelligence, building a safe, independent, and controllable automotive chip ecosystem has become an industry consensus. Recently, an industrial technology salon themed "Joint Advancement of Chip Chains, Leapforward of Ecosystems" kicked off in Shanghai. Hosted by SAIC Financial Holdings, this grand event gathered automakers represented by SAIC Group, as well as outstanding enterprises covering the entire industrial chain of chip design, manufacturing, and packaging & testing.
SAIC Group has elevated "expanding the scale of domestic chip application and increasing the proportion of domestic manufacturing" to a strategic height. This is not only the determination of automakers but also an opportunity and challenge for the entire industrial chain. While breakthroughs in hardware are encouraging, a practical problem facing all parties is how to enable domestic chips—with varying performances and diverse interfaces—to operate efficiently, stably, and safely in complex automotive systems.
HiRain was honored to be invited to attend. As a "software bridge" connecting chip hardware and vehicle functions, HiRain injects vitality into domestic "chips" with software capabilities and unblocks a key link in their commercial implementation.

During the salon’s sharing session, Zhang Hewei, Assistant President of HiRain and Head of Basic Software Business, directly addressed the diverse challenges, adaptation difficulties, and safety requirements in the promotion of domestic chips. Focusing on "pain points in basic software adaptation for domestic chips and cost-reduction solutions," he presented HiRain’s insights and practices to the participating experts—building a fast, flexible, and secure software adaptation system. By leveraging the certainty of software to cope with the diversity of hardware, HiRain accelerates the commercial implementation of domestic chips.
- Self-Developed Platformization: Relying on its profound experience in vehicle electronic system development, HiRain has built the self-developed HIRAIN OS platform and full-link toolchain. This effectively reduces differences in underlying hardware and provides standardized interfaces for upper-layer applications.
- Middleware as a "Buffer Zone": Through mature and secure middleware, HiRain has established an "adaptation layer" between chips and operating systems. This significantly improves software reusability and migration efficiency, enabling rapid adaptation.
- Full-Lifecycle Services for Guaranteed Support: In the POC (Proof of Concept) phase, HiRain provides free trial and source code services, collaborating with chip manufacturers and automakers to explore technical feasibility. In the mass production phase, through strategic cooperation and flexible platform licensing models, it significantly reduces customers’ overall development costs and risks.

This salon is not only a sharing session but also a profound call for industrial collaboration. HiRain will continue to uphold an open and cooperative attitude, deepen collaboration with automakers and chip manufacturers, and use its professional software technology and engineering service capabilities to play the role of an "ecosystem enabler." In the future, HiRain will work with partners to jointly promote the Chinese automotive industry in building a safe, independent, and controllable core supply chain, and contribute HiRain’s strength to China’s transformation from a major automotive country to a powerful automotive nation!
